Boulder's Jeep Experts

Boulder is Jeep country. Wranglers on the trailheads, Gladiators on the canyon roads, Grand Cherokees in every parking lot. We have spent years specializing in keeping them running and built right.

Jeep Wrangler service at Legacy Automotive in Boulder, Colorado

Boulder is one of the densest Jeep markets in the country. Wranglers on every trailhead, Gladiators on the canyon roads, Cherokees and Grand Cherokees as everyday drivers. We are the shop that specializes in keeping them on the road and on the trail.

Why Jeep Owners Trust Us

Jeeps take a specialist.

A Jeep is not a crossover. The driveline, the suspension geometry, the electrical, and the engine families all reward a shop that has put in the years.

Wrangler and JK/JL specialists

From the TJ to the JL, we know the Wrangler platform inside and out. Death wobble diagnosis, track bar replacement, steering box upgrades, and the suspension geometry that comes with a lift. We have done all of it, more times than we can count.

4x4 driveline expertise

Transfer cases, front and rear axles, locker service, U-joints, and driveshaft balancing. The components that make a Jeep a Jeep deserve a shop that actually understands them.

Lift kits and outfitting

We install, service, and re-tune lift kits from the major brands. Proper geometry correction, alignment after the lift, drive shaft phasing, and the small details that separate a lift that drives well from one that does not.

Electrical and 3.6L Pentastar know-how

The Pentastar has its own service patterns (cylinder head replacements, oil cooler housings, water pumps). Jeep electrical has its quirks. We have seen them and we know how to fix them right the first time.

Common Jeep Services

Jeep work we do every week.

These are the services Jeep owners bring to us most often. Each one is a job our techs have done many, many times.

Death wobble diagnosis and repair

We track down the actual cause: track bar bushings, steering stabilizer, ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, or wheel balance. Diagnosis first, parts second. We do not throw a stabilizer at the symptom.

Lift kit installation and tuning

2 inch to 4 inch lifts on Wranglers and Gladiators. Proper geometry correction, alignment after the lift, brake line and ABS line considerations, and drive shaft phasing.

Locker, axle, and gear service

Front and rear axle service, gear ratio swaps, locker installations and rebuilds, U-joint and ball joint replacement, and pinion seal service.

Transfer case and 4x4 system

NP231, NP242, NV241, MP3022, and the rest. Fluid service, chain replacement, shift linkage, and the electronic transfer case actuators that fail with predictable mileage.

Pentastar 3.6L service and repair

Cylinder head replacement on early Pentastars, oil cooler and intake manifold service, water pump and timing chain work. We know the platform's history and what to look for.

Cooling system and overheating diagnosis

Boulder's altitude and summer heat punish cooling systems. We pressure test, scan for combustion gases, and replace water pumps, thermostats, and radiators with quality parts.

Soft top, hard top, and door service

Door hinges, latches, soft top zippers and bows, hard top wiring (defrost, washer fluid, third brake light) all get service when you need it.

The Jeep Difference in Boulder

Boulder is built for Jeeps.

Look at any Boulder trailhead, ski lot, or mountain road on a Saturday. Wranglers and Gladiators are everywhere. The reason is simple. Boulder owns its terrain, and Jeeps are built to handle it. Solid front axle, real low range, and a body-on-frame platform that takes a lift the way it was designed to.

A Jeep specialist matters more than for many other brands. The solid axle suspension geometry, the transfer case and locker systems, and the unique service patterns of the Pentastar all reward experience and punish guesswork.

We are that shop. Jeep work is a major share of what we do, and Boulder Jeep owners drive across town and across the county to bring their builds here.

Jeep Owners Talk

What Boulder Jeep drivers say.

Had death wobble for months and three other shops just kept selling me parts. Legacy diagnosed it on the first appointment, fixed the actual problem, and the JL drives perfect now.

Got a 3 inch lift installed and they did the alignment, drive shaft phasing, and tuned the steering damper. Drives better than stock. These guys know Wranglers.

Pentastar cylinder head went on my Grand Cherokee. Legacy walked me through the options, did the job for less than the dealer, and the truck has been perfect for over a year.

Common Questions

Jeep questions, answered.

Yes. Death wobble is almost always a worn or loose front-end component (track bar bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings) combined with tire balance issues. We inspect the entire front end on a rack, check torque on every bolt, and identify the actual cause before we sell you parts.
